I think everything was answered already.
Here a short rundown.
- AniDB does now enforce gzip compression of all html pages (which saves almost 80% bandwidth), some broken browsers may have problems with that
- The change is permanent.
- If you are no longer able to access AniDB get a new browser.
suggestions:
Mozilla or FireFox from http://www.mozilla.org
Opera from http://www.opera.com
- Note: if your internet explorer is broken, downloading an alternative interface like MyIE will _NOT_ fix the problem.
As the internet explorer has lots of security holes it is NOT recommended to use it anyway, so just get one of the browsers noted above.

IE6 and Squid
Maybe this can help someone.
I had problems using IE6 through Squid (a proxy server); solved them enabling both "Use HTTP 1.1" and "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" in Internet Options.
Firefox is better, anyway

Thanks antaniblinda
I'm using IE 6 with XP and enabling both "Use HTTP 1.1" and "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" in Internet Options (Advanced Tab) fixed any problem I had using IE here. I do use other browsers, but since there doesn't seem to be a browser that doesn't have problems with some webpages it's always nice to fix a problem in case a website pops up that uses gzip and only likes IE. So thanks antaniblinda for the fix.

Re: IE6 and Squid
Thanks ticking "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" fixed my problem, I had to use another of my IPS transparent proxy since the normal one I use is overloaded.antaniblinda wrote:Maybe this can help someone.
