Ok, I'm a total newbie here, so I'm sorry if this offends someone. I just started my anime list here (already got one one animenfo) and I don't like the add feature. It takes too long.
Not that I don't like being able to select which group did which episode, that's nice. But there is one BIG problem. I have +180 titles, which will take a long time to add.
What I'd like to see is a feature to mass-add an entire series by the same group. That would make things so much easier, and most of the series I have are done by the same group anyway.
My two cents to AnimeDB improvements, flame away.

As for the easiest way to use AniDB, get Petriw's client and hash all your files. This not only checks they have good crc, but is the easiest way to add lots of things all at once. Remember the database is to keep track of what specific files you have, not just series you have/seen/once heard of. Being an active eDonkey user is a bonus.

As Rar wrote, in contrast to AnimeNfo, the mylist on AniDB is file-centric.
The problems with "adding all files of a group at one" are:

The problems with "adding all files of a group at one" are:
- If there are multiple versions listed, none of them marked as "valid CRC", AniDB can't just choose one randomly or all at once.
- Sometimes, one's local file is mislabeled and actually belongs to a different group. The hash easily reveals this, but this wouldn't work for an auto-add-feature.
- One of the benefits for oneself is being able to help finding out which of one's files are corrupted. But you can't make sure that the file you have is indeed the one listed with such a feature anymore.
- One of the benefits for others is that it's known how many users a file has. These statistics would easily be off with a mass-add-feature, though.
It's a feature-request, though...Rar wrote:Move to Anime Talk.
