[REQ] Producer listing [DONE]

Dunno. I find it kind of annoying that I can't find another anime done by CLAMP or XEBEC (for example). I'm surprised (not REALLY surprised though) that nobody asked this (and I did search).

1. It'd be great to have a sidebar link that has "producers" and have the producing companies databased. I haven't found any links relating to certain companies; that is enough for a request. If it seems to pointless to put on the sidebar, it should at least be in the "myplace" option.

2. My most obvious reason for having a company listing is so that I can pick other animes done by the same company. It may be a vast market of companies, but databasing them would be relatively fast if there is an effort to do so. Also, certain styles (such as as weird faces, Ghibli, or serious like the Kenshin OVA's vs. Kenshin TV)....I would imagine that several viewers would like to see if companies do anything with their styles and such.

I'm not entirely sure why I'm asking for this - but if I wanted to see another thing from Toei animation besides Dragon Ball Z, I'd have to search massocistically.

Yes, the reason given is that AniDB must not be a copy of AnimeNFO.

You can find all these information on their page, and that's why a link is included on each series page. Do a little search on their site then come back to add them to your list!

You may be wondered but AnimeNFO has only part of that info. Moreover, if nobody concerned and AnimeNFO staff doesn't know right info nobody can know who did some anime. For example, new anime "Onegai Twins". Animation in it was produced by Doumu as well as "Onegai Teacher". But see in AnimeNFO: it says "Onegai Teacher" was done by Bandai, "Onegai Twins" by Genco. I think that info have some sense but I think it's more important who done animation than who payd the money. I don't know now where I can find that info. I found it myself for more than 200 titles, AnimeNFO has wrong names for about half of these. BTW, many titles in AnimeNFO has not such info at all.

So basically it would be nice to add an animation-studio-table to the DB and crosslink it with the anime-table as this info cannot be found well organized anywhere else yet.

Seems reasonable to me.

I'd like to see a producer-field as well (even if it is just a copy of animenfo), but that's another story.

Hmm, why I didn't know there is http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php - that is a place where all info (producer, licenser, etc.) already exist?

It seems they do it properly, so I would revoke my request but make another one instead - let's put link to animenetwoks page for anime from anime record.
