new notification type [DONE?]

Post by alaureijs »

The notification mechanism used is very clear and useful. But for keeping track of running series it is sometimes quite annoying to find that in stead of the hoped for new episode there is only new existing episode.

It might be nicer to have a slightly different notification message available, in addition to notification-for-changes-in-a-series.

For series still running I'd like to have a notification that pops up only if there is a new episode added (with link), not if an episode is updated (unless if an episode marked downloaded is upgraded to a higher version).

Come to think of it, this new mechanism (keeping track of new versions of the episodes) can also be used to keep a whole series up-to-date.

That`s not even such a bad idea ... 2 different ways for notification ... one where you want to complete existing eps from a series, but the group you`re collecting hasn`t finished the series yet - and the other where you just want to see the next ep when it`s added.

Ano ne, I think that was already brought up in the wishlist thread. To be more precise, I think the suggestion at that time was to add filters to notifies so that the notification only triggers when there are, for example, new files with ed2k-links for episodes that you don't currently have in your mylist (and this would actually be a combination of three filters: only files, only non-lame files, only unknown episodes).

true, it was brought forth in the discussion on the wishlist..
however, it became part of a very complex request.
when I wrote this I didn't think it as part of the wishlist though, just as adding functionality to the existing notification mechanism.

You don't have to excuse yourself for noting the similarities...

I am the one who should. I did not notice it myself. baka wa atachi!!

before someone complains about my grammar/dictionary of japanese: I picked up a few words watching Anime but have no idea about the real spelling and grammar. (come to think of it I suck at grammar in all languages)

Or "watashi" which works for both genders. ;)

The question is... How would one translate "I am an idiot." to Japanese? I figure you need a suffix for either "baka" or "watashi" to indicate that it's the object of the sentence and not the subject, no?

From what I have heard I guess it would be
Watashi no baka

but gramatically, it doesn't make any sense ;)

there are now 3 notification types.

- all
- new ep
- same group

all (old style) notifies you on every file add

new ep only if you don't have a file for the ep already in mylist

and same group only if you're collecting files from that group (on anime basis).

this is highly untested so plz check if it works as expected.

BYe!

Very cool, thanks! :)

Why not? You could say "Idiocy is a property of mine" in English, even tho it only works because "property" doesn't indicate ownership in this case... :P

EXP !! :D arigatou !!!!

(isn't the grammar used something like that green muppet in star wars uses?)

Anyway, this 'aho' is going to try the new functionality to hearts content!!... (and stupity is MINE!! baka, others claiming it too.. )

btw. I think in any language you can claim ownership over concepts...

like 'the mistake is mine' is like taking ownership over a concept that is understood within a context (from a different perspective it may not be a mistake but a lucky break). Maybe ninje need to describe things in a material word while the subject is not.

私は馬鹿である

That would be 'i am an idiot'.. however, that website did not offer to have the same text in a roman lettering...

Well... maybe I can use it as a footer and maybe someone will copy it as his/hers own somewhere else... *EG*

the Chinese need less words: 我是蠢貨

and after a some thought i think it must be 'watashi wa bake' not 'watashi no baka' since 'no' seems to be used for a property to something. Hotaru no Haka ... for Grave of the Fireflies . I believe that 'wa' meanse 'to be'[/i]

Guess I'll post this question over in the Animereactor forum - when it's back up... :/

Btw, what happened to the server that hosts animereactor.ath.cx and anidb.ath.cx? I'm getting routing errors for both, the animereactor forum and AniDB... :(

watashi ha baka desu.

would be a polite way to tell the world that you are stupid.

ore/boku ha baka da.

is far more impolite and applies more to a younger speaker in the case of boku.

You could emphasize the statement like this:

watashi ha baka desuyo.

hey, I think I did learn quite some grammar in the last 1,5 years from japanese-classes.
