[CGI] Exact match search with quick search [DONE]

Post by PetriW »

This would be a pretty neat feature.

Earlier today I was looking for One Piece. Since I'm so lazy I only write OP in the quick search field and then get plenty of results. Thought struck me, wouldn't it be nice if I could write "OP" (ie, with quotation (") marks) and the search would only match an exact match, ie it wouldn't match for example Boogiepop, Panda Kopanda and Popotan.

After a while you get used to refer to animes by their short names, would be nice if we could use this in the quick search for an instant referral to the correct anime page.

Well, I wonder if these short names are unique enough to be useful. If there's ever a second anime that can be abbreviated with OP, you'd once again get a listing with the two results making the quick search pointless. Second, it sounds easier to type "one pie" without quotation marks then ""OP"" with extra quotation marks.

Sounds rather not really important to me ... I guess it`ll be somewhere on the 'eventually' list ...

Yup, not that important a feature, more like a neat feature. :D

Oh, fear the web developers' eternal quest for neatness... :P

hm,

somehow i must have overlooked this one.
problem here is of course that " is a valid char in an anime title.
dunno if any title uses it atm though.

If it is used, just choose a different character!

If your query starts with an " and ends with an " it's considered a fullmatch only query and the "'s are removed.
So. i.e. "OP" will only search for OP as fullmatch and not as a substring.

Hmm, but isn't it being a bit too exact when it's case sensitive?

yeah since short names have different cases... it's kinda hard to remember the one you wanted! But it's a good start!
