Hi,
Ok, this is a far stretch...but when I was quite young (around 1984) I watched a movie several times because I thought it was great. I think that it was an anime but I am not 100% sure. It was an animation video and I guess it was a Dutch or at least an American version. These are the things I remember: A beautiful girl (of course), a handsome hero (of course), a squirrel or some other small and cute (talking?) animal that accompanied the hero and the most important thing that I remember is Bluebeard. I guess it was a Japanese version of the Bluebeard tale but I can't find anything about this video. Does anyone know the title? I would love to see the movie again. I hope I'm not mixing up genres or characters and that someone will recognise it.
Love,
Femke

the "anime" is little Nemo in Slumberland. It could be an anime but it is not sure. it was directed by a Japaneses director and distributed by disney i think.
It recently came out on DVD. I also loved this movie.

You are great! I think this is the one. Incredible how you managed to figure out that it was this movie, with all my vague descriptions. I must have unconsciously changed the name of Rothbart into Bluebeard because Bluebeard was a more familiar character for me. It has squirrels and it does seem to be vaguely familiar so you must be right. I will try to get the movie and watch it to be sure...but I think you deserve a big hug
