Hi everybody,
i've got some problems in playing some files in my player. I'm using the Media Player Classic or the Win Media Player 10. I think there's a codec missing, but I don't know which one. Files I can't play are Hagane no Renkinjutsushi episodes 1-3 (don't got more of them) and Koukaku Kidoutai STAND ALONE COMPLEX .mkv files with jp and us vob. I think it has to do with the 5.1 sound.

Probs playing files / which codec needed?

have you read this thread?
Tip: use gspot to open the file, if you are missing something it will tell you.

GSpot doesn't understand MKV. It can only attempt to render the file and tell whether DirectShow was able to construct a playback graph or not.

) Since you said that your guess is the audio, I'll assume that you have used .mkv files before and therefore have the Matroska Splitter installed. So, regarding the audio, do you have AAC and AC3 playback filters installed? If not, get AC3Filter here and CoreAAC here.

@ Fahrenheit: I've already read the thread and I used Gspot. It told me "Codec not installed" Name: 0x00ff: <unknown>, i googeled but couldn't find anything.
@ Elberet: My Fullmetal Alchemist (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) Files are .avi I tried the aac filter 'cause I already installed ac3 filter. but i don't know if I used the right one. (I downloadet the .bat) how can I test if it works?

The CoreAAC Filter itself is actually the .ax file in the archive you downloaded. When you run the .bat file, it registers the filter with Windows. If you get a message saying "DllRegisterServer in CoreAAC.ax was executed successfully." (or something like that). Once you got that message, the filter should be useable by all players that use DirectShow, such as ZoomPlayer and even Windows Media Player.
