changeing auto created creqs [DONE]

Post by Tomynocker »

Hi

in the last few hours i inserted several eps into mylist. some of these created auto creqs. But these creqs where blocking other edits on that file. Wouldn't it be a good idea to make the auto creqs editable like other creqs? somtimes not only the new hash values have to be entered but also things like changing from "crc unchecked" to "crc matches official source". like this i can update these files only after either waiting 24 hours or asking an mod to grant the open creqs.

the problem here is that showing the auto-creqs in your personal creq view might become quite bulky.
i.e. it is well possible for a user to hash tons of files on a day and if most of them trigger a creq he could well face a listing of thousands of creqs x_X

i see your point though and will think about it.

I want this option too because I too often hate it when I know something but can't add the info.

And with roughly 30 ppl with 1 TB of files in the userlist I honestly think the days of hundreds of automated creqs are over. I guess there aren't too many folks out there that have files that are already in the DB that need updates. Usually (I guess) they have files that are not yet in the DB and then they'd have to add those to the DB first which is a manual process and will take longer.

On the other hand I might be wrong but then the fact that only 50 creqs are shown at one time kicks in - and then you simply wait for all the automated creqs to be granted.

This way or the other I think that manually added information is mostly available for newly added files which might have come out within the last one to three days. Information is still available on the IRC or WWW page of the group and you know stuff that is not automatically added. The next day, after the automated creq is granted, you already forgot about the file because you moved it to its final destination on the harddisk.

I guess this way more information that has to be added manually will be added to the DB by the users.

don't be fooled, the only thing it would take would be a new AOM version which also sets some sofar unset info (i.e. codecs) and we'd have thousands of new creqs within a couple of days.

i guess i will include some kind of option to unhide the auto-generated creqs, but per default they should remain hidden IMHO. it might be too confusing for new users otherwise.

Great, that's all that would be needed. Another thing is that this way you could find out which files are currently creqed so if you go to your myplace and see creqs listed it usually makes me stop to even even check any file entry for even if I have the info, I might not be able to enter it. The "show" function on the details page would allow me to find out which file is handled. I think this has also been requested for AoM, that it shows which files exactly it auto-creqs.

On the other hand, do you really think anybody would want to get a detailed list of all creqs if he has hundreds listed for him? Would be kind of silly :-)

And even so you if AoM get's new options you could disable it for a while :-)

i dream of something like this:

i can click a link where it says "6 anidb client based creqs have been hidden."when i click it, i can see those auto created creqs too, like normal creqs. and only those that my own aom created. and the (for me) most important part is, that i can edit these creqs and put in some info that aom didn't know (like put right codec info, or change status from unknown crc to maches official crc).

editing my own creqs would be another feature request.

if normal creqs and autocreqs are practically identical (e.g. a flag that marks auto-creqs) then this should be a small change, right?

editing creqs is not possible, the way they're organized does not allow it.
however, i could include some kind of "revoke and reissue this creq" button which would be more or less an edit.
editing an auto creq would of course make it a normal creq in that case.

Good idea - even if you could only retract the auto creq fully and re-enter everything manually (even if that would be a bitch).

As long as it is retractable, you can always run aom later again and it will auto-creq the file again.

@exp
if that's possible without big changes then it'd be exactly what i i think is needed. if it's not that easy to do, then the revoke idea from skywalka would suffice. Like that eps won't be blocked for a day until it gets granted. Because usually you don't remember the changes you wanted to make a day ago and in the end the changes won't be made at all.
