Hi,
Ok, this is a far stretch...but when I was quite young (around 1984) I watched a movie several times because I thought it was great. I think that it was an anime but I am not 100% sure. It was an animation video and I guess it was a Dutch or at least an American version. These are the things I remember: A beautiful girl (of course), a handsome hero (of course), a squirrel or some other small and cute (talking?) animal that accompanied the hero and the most important thing that I remember is Bluebeard. I guess it was a Japanese version of the Bluebeard tale but I can't find anything about this video. Does anyone know the title? I would love to see the movie again. I hope I'm not mixing up genres or characters and that someone will recognise it.
Love,
Femke

No I'm sorry, that's not the one I'm talking about. The one I'm talking about is with a boy (I think dark hair) and girl (I think blonde) who are older (around 16?) and the style of drawing was more...neat...a bit like Candy Candy, but could indeed very well be an American film in anime style. And that Bluebeard (or blackbeard?) character really keeps sticking in my mind. Oh, it's all so long ago

You are great! I think this is the one. Incredible how you managed to figure out that it was this movie, with all my vague descriptions. I must have unconsciously changed the name of Rothbart into Bluebeard because Bluebeard was a more familiar character for me. It has squirrels and it does seem to be vaguely familiar so you must be right. I will try to get the movie and watch it to be sure...but I think you deserve a big hug
