Episodetable filtering after language preference [done]

Post by SilentGuy »

Hi!
I noticed more raws in the DB then earlier. This in itself is of cause no bad thing but sometimes i think "oh someone added a file for this ep" and then it's only a raw, so how about marking eps that do not contain any nonraw files? Or maybe you could add the dub- and sub-language-icons of all files together so you see what's available.
This might also be nice if you want to look for dubbed anime etc...

hm,

wouldn't showing all available language icons end up in a big mess?

It would. Expect around 10 flag icons besides the episode titles of old or interesting animes that have two or three dub and sub languages.

Instead use the notify for group releases...
you will be sure the language is the same you want!

If it'd be only about notifies, it could also be solved with some kind of "preferred language(s)"-setting and an additional "notify only on preferred language"-option, for people who don't care which group did it.
spankydam wrote:The idea then would be to use this as a filter against the calls to the database so that when any list is displayed of anime titles only those meeting the preferred language would be shown, along with unsubbed / undubbed results if that option is selected.
The biggest problems are probably:
  • How complex may the rules become?
    Preferred:
    - Only japanese dub with english sub
    - Japanese dub with english sub or english dub
    - Japanese dub with english sub or with german sub or with french sub or german dub
    ...
    While it's easy to make such a preference-setting, I don't know how it'd perform on the anime-pages.
  • How should external subs be treated (since they're currently not associated with the raws)?
  • What about Korean Animes? Most preferred-settings would probably not show any files there.
  • Does it break the caching?
  • To meet all eventualities when hiding entries, one would need some kind of "(really) show all"-link.
(Like "Three more files: no group (Image/Image), no group (Image/Image), no group (Image/Image)", as suggested in the the "deprecated files"-thread)
