I'm attempting to extract the audio from an Xvid using virtual dub to make a WAV file, which I've done countless times in the past. This time however, I am getting the following message:
"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and the channel count of the input match those of the requested format."
I don't understand this message because I'm not trying to make a compressed file, only a WAV. I tried updating my Xvid codec and this still didn't help. I'm using version 1.4.10 of virtualdub, any suggestions?
This isn't really on-topic in any of the AniDB-forums except "Small Talk", so expect the topic to be moved there soon.
Possible solution:
Use GSpot to find out the audio-codec, also to test whether the file can be rendered correctly
Then (re-)install the appropriate audio-codec (most likely you just need an ac3-decoder [Link])
Then try it again, if neccessary using VirtualDubMod instead of VirtualDub.
Chances are that you only have a DirectShow filter but not a VfW compatible audio codec installed, hence VirtualDub can't decode the audio stream while e.g. your video player can.
If that's the case, it should be possible to extract the audio stream with graphedit.
