Search by hash [closed]

Post by rowaasr13 »

I think it'd be good to be able to search file by any of currently available hash/checksum.

Kinda like the ed2k dump, but instead of adding files to the mylist, it lists the anime, episode number and name, file details and mylist status for each file in the dump. I like the idea. :)

Checksum:
Should work with @find in #anidb, but I don't remember if it returns the ep or just the anime...

Hash:
!file <ed2k> in #anidb
and
"http://www.anidb.net/cgi-bin/animedb.pl ... ]#filesize[/i]&hash=#hashid" (for emule's webservices.dat)

and exactly how would we distinguish between ed2k, md5, crc and sha1 hashes @ "file"dump ?

@wahaha: Ah, very cool... I didn't know that such a feature existed. It would only be nice if there were a nice web-frontend for it. :P

sha1 and crc32 can be distinguished by length. everything else compared to all other checksums/hashes with same length, or specified by user.

that's not a bad idea! use the lenght of the hash submited!
ignore unknown lenghts...

Normally size is known to user, so I think size+any checksum should be ok. If you don't want to check all sums that fit size - fine, just make user explictly specify type. If one have checksum/hash, he should know it's type anyway.
