[MOVE][FILE] FID 148061: Tweeny Witches ep 5 & 6

Post by phip »

some schmuck just added a file for episode five of Mahou Shoujo Tai Arisu to represent AnimeForever's eps 5&6 double release.

If someone could be so kind as to make it a special like was done for 1&2 + 3&4, and maybe send this guy a link to the generic files explanation page, it would be muchly appreciated.

The File:

Thanks!

No, no.
The opposite should be done: double-episodes should be insert with regular episode.

And someone should give a link to phip for the generic files explanation page. ;)

AF ep 5&6 DVD are not specials, they are the regular series, the only diference is that they are DVD rips, so i agree with amour, the dvd "specials" should be passed to the series and also it should be added generic files to make the eps span 2 files.

Alas it's just an issue of allow the pending creqs.

Hello, I'm the "some schmuck". I added it this way after consulting it with the ppl and ops at IRC. I also creqed the specials of 1+2 and 3+4 to be moved and deleted...

The links about generic files are:
http://www.anidb.net/wiki/index.php?tit ... eric_files
http://www.anidb.net/wiki/index.php?tit ... sode_files

The key sentence from there is:
If a group releases all eps in multi-ep-files (e.g. Future Boy Conan (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?s ... me&aid=330)), these files should be added to specials
If a group releases just some files that contain multiple eps (e.g. the dual eps in Prince of Tennis (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=56)), these files should be added to the first episode they contain.
And you know, AF-F does also the TVrips one ep/file. So the doubleep dvdrips are 'some files' not 'all files'.

(Well I don't agree with the use of specials for multiep releases in ANY case. It only means MORE ep entries and MORE generic file entries, I don't see any advantage there. let's flame!)

Caster: It was late at night and I was being silly. Sorry for the "some schmuck" comment, I meant no insult.

This is exactly what I was going by when I started this thread.

It is true that AF-F does single-file TV rips, but these doubleEP DVD rips are a separate project from the TV rips. They are (slowly) going back through and rereleasing the whole show. This is not "some files", so I thought official policy was to make specials for them.

Nevermind, I would something similar too :D

That's true, different project. Still I don't see why there should be special eps. The intentions behind the mods decision are unknown to us mortals

OK, so now eps 1&2, 3&4 have been moved from specials to ep 1 and 3, respectively. Does this mean aniDB's policy has changed for "If a group releases all eps in multi-ep-files" and no longer uses specials for them?

I don't know Phip, but I do not like Specials for just multi-episodes files.

I don't know if this will have any effect on the way this is resolved, but supposedly the DVD rips have additional footage not in the TV versions. So the 1&2 release is not really the same as watching TV episodes 1 and 2.

nwa granted my creqs. not sure if he's read this thread first :D Maybe with this specific series name this isn't the best thread to argument about general policies for multiep specials. But I already said my opinion :)

Well I do think we should change our official policy or not change the files. Otherwise entropy takes the database quickly, with files arranged according to individual whim. And we can't have that.

Really ?
When there is new footage, we create a new anime for that, isn't it? Like with GANTZ...

Nevermind. From skimming the files, it looks like the "new footage" is just an intro and opening sequence and some eyecatch and title screen stuff to splice the two episodes.

Indeed. I was under the impression [1] that it included new footage that actually had relevance to the plot, and watched them side by side. I found that the TV station had cut these things off: OP, previous episode summary, episode titles, ED and next episode preview. Absolutely zero cuts to the video.

Well, zero cuts to the video, if we don't count the aspect ratio change. I noticed that the TV source video had its edges cut, so that in some cases even the characters that were speaking remained mostly off-screen in the 4:3 version.

Do these cuts warrant marking the files as censored/uncensored?

[1] I remember AF-F's newspost saying "it all makes so much more sense now", when they released the 1&2 file... I just can't find it anywhere now.
