[REQ] Add in an Anime Page if the serie is based on a manga

Post by viiv »

(This suggestion has been made in the end of this post by Amour : http://forum.anidb.net/viewtopic.php?t=5771&highlight= but I don't think it was the good place to put it, and not many people might have seen it, this is why I make a new thread.)

More and more often nowadays (but it isn't new), Anime series are based on existing mangas (for example today there is Moonlight Mile but Love Hina in 2000 was already an adaptation).
So it would be interesting to know if the serie is based on a manga to know if the serie is an original concept or not.
Purists and anime lovers prefer to read the existing manga before to see the serie, and it is easy today thanks to the scanlations groups and the editors who publish more mangas than before.
Moreover the conception of a serie is pretty different if there is already a scenario or not, and a serie that is an adaptation is (practically) sure to make good audience.

Such an information could take place between the lines Year and Categories or between the lines Resources and Similar Animes, in an Anime Page and only the title the author and the date would be enough
For example for Moonlight Mile :
Based on Moonlight Mile by Yasuo Ohtagaki - 2000 until today

If this is implemented, later there could be the publisher and the book in which this is serialized and the number of volumes...but for the moment just to know that there is a manga will be good! :D

I know that this is sometitmes noticed in the summary but it isn't systematic and it isn't very visible (it is sometimes in the end and sometimes in the beginning of the descritpion). Actually I just suggest to make it systematic and visible!

And I am very conscious that AniDB is NOT a MangaDB, but the aim of this measure is only to give information to those who want to deepen their knowledge of a serie and to view it as something that makes up a whole, and not to build up a Manga database.

Actually on Wikipedia (let's still take Moonlight Mile for example : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonlight_Mile_%28manga%29 there are the informations on the serie and on the manga visible in the same table, but on AniDB the information about the manga could easily take place on a single line.

Thanks for your readind and your taking into account.

(Sorry if there are faults, english isn't my mother tongue)

There's already the Original Work> Manga category for that.

Yes but as you can see : http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=27 (one of the first which appears in the Manga list) this category isn't shown on the anime page.
I just suggest an additional line to make it visible and to know what is the original title and the author (and maybe after the date and the number of volumes and an external link...)

Thanks!
Actually I searched the Forum but I hadn't checked the wiki...
But those things which are being developed mean a tremendous revolution for AniDB 8O It's amazing! But I guess it may take long time...
So I wonder if it is a major serious feature that is being developed now, or just an idea for a distant future?

EDIT : I have my answer : Timeframe: open (very long term)
I will be waiting for this with impatience!! :D (good luck to developers because it seems it won't be easy...)
