accesskey for search box [tracked]

Post by gizban »

My feature request is to add the accesskey attribute to the search box. Wikipedia uses accesskey="f", which means you can press ALT-f and then the search box will be selected. I suggest using either "f" (like wikipedia) or "s" (like php.net).

Thank you

access keys are nice but aren't very standart in my opinion, every browser handles them in a diferent away.

It's is true that not all browsers handle accesskeys the same way. (IE uses ALT-key. Opera 9 uses ALT-ESC-key, which I think is a terrible choice). However, I still think that every website should add an accesskey to the site's search box. If people don't know what accesskey's are, they don't have to use them.

digg.com uses ALT-2. It would be nice if many sites used the same key, or at least gave a visible indication of which key to use, instead of having to read the HTML source.
