1) We don't need AICH to identify a file.
2) AniDB isn't a download database, so no need of error recovery.

and eMule Plus, the client which I'm using, isn't using AICH either

As Amour properly stated AICH is NOT a file descriptor so it doesn't bellong to the DB.

You don't need SHA-1 and MD5 to identify file either. Please explain how AICH root hash is any different than those or think go think of another argument.

as is AICH as is TTA as is whatever else.

yes aich isn't a filedescriptor, but it's a unique hash related to the file. what user do with it isof no concern to us.

the mainhash and only important for anidb is the ed2khash. as that one + size are the mainidentifier. rest is optional. i see no reason for why not to add an additional hash as aom can create those hashes and so autocreq them.

and don't tell me aich is encouraging dl's or something

md5 is winny
sha-1 is share
ed2k is ed2k

all hashes we got atm can be used for something it's not intended for thats hardly an argument.
