Lock-option for admins for certain Anime [tracked]

Post by Skywalka »

Hi there,

the rel-graphs are now in place for several weeks (months even) and it starts to get annoying that people tend to mess with certain Anime that have lots of relations (-> add redundant links or previously proven wrong information). This applies especially to Tenchi Muyo.

I would therefor like to request that certain Anime should relationship graphs should be lockable by admins one they deem the relationships complete. A short information should be added directing users to the forum so they can still inquire about a relation they think is approriate - they should also be told to use the search function of the forum first before asking ^_-

I request this because we happen to have Tenchi Muyo relationship discussions weekly now and because stuff that has been previously deleted / fixed pops up again because other people don't understand the (admittedly confusing) Tenchi relations.

I think as well we should protect finished data.
Maybe instead of allowing easy edit of relations make it only viable throw a moderator so he can check before approving a change.

I'd swear that I requested that they need to be creqable... It would be nice if relations could be added for a while (7 days?) after the anime was created, but after that additions/changes/deletions should be through creqs... Like most creqs if it is reasonable it should go through fairly quickly... It just makes more work for the mods, but it may be less work than going back and cleaning things up later (sometimes repeatedly).

I'm in favor of introducing change requests for anime relations as well. It just seems wrong to have publically changeable settings here, creq-changeable stuff there and then something that is completely locked - there's too much variance.

I agree to a certain extent. Some episodes names contain kanji now and I think usually people who add that kind of info know what they mean. So if they took the time to collect that info it should be protected at least as much as any

new file entry that totally obviously contains bogus information because the filesize indicates that that file is already in anidb. While I am not allowed to request to have these file entries removed I would love to see all the good and valid information beening protected by the creq system as well.

Wow, you can yell with empty lungs? WTG! :P

Anyway...

The problem here is not that valid information is changed through the CREQ system - the mods are doing a good job to prevent uneducated users from doing that - but that there are still things a normal user can change without ever submitting a CREQ. More specifically, this whole thread is about the way how users can add genres and relations to animes without these changes being verified by a mod, no?

I fully agree that others' work done to research the true relations or genres of an anime should be protected, but that should be done by moderating new and possibly bogus information through the CREQ system instead of locking the information.

Sure. What I meant is that if actual BS is protected by the creq system the relationship graphs should be as well.
