add to mylist extra [DENIED]

Post by meleka »

hey guys...
i´ve been thinking that u can develop a routine to add massive files to mylist..
well.. actually it already exist, isn´t it true??
but when i select more than 1 file and click on the "add selected to ed2k" i´ll need to go back, select all the files i want again and than press to add these files to mylist...
maibe u can just add the "add selected to mylist" button at the page u send me after clicking on "add selected to ed2k".
the same goes to the page that shows the files added to mylist, just put the button to add this files to ed2k!
probably it will save a lot of time from users, and u will save one page processing, thinking as a query of a dragonball z... for example, u will save some bandwidth!
m i not right!?
cya...

Or get a real browser like Opera that doesn't forget which checkboxes you checked. ;)

yeah that would be nice if that "real browser" like opera would be able to mass add files (you know, like in a script by TheRealWorld or Sharereactor). It only takes the first one and stops then.

Fortunately AniDB does not mass-add files via a script and let's us click all the files we selected again manually so you are indeed right, Opera would solve this problem.

You aren't supposed to add files to your mylist you want to download anyway. (Instead, only those files you already have are meant to be added to your mylist.)

Which version?

I simply added a filehandle for ed2k links in the Programs part of the preferences in Opera 7.5... does not work with scripts like the one on TheRealWorld.de

well.. about the real browser... u need to remamber that the internet explorer still the most used browser in the world... even opera been so superior, it will take a long... long time to change this situation...

why am i not suposed to add the files i want to download to my mylist!?
offcourse i m! if my intention is to download this files, after the download i´ll have them.. it will save me lots of time.. and it will be much more easy to administrate... but if i they r not on mylist, i´ll need to browse to the anime page, and do all the same job again... just for adding the files...

i just think its lots of the same thing... rework and rework for everybody!

the files i´ll add to my list will be marked as unseen... or u can create a status mode... downloading
=)
really... i´m sure that doing that... lots of db access, cpu usage and badwidth could be saved...
think about that

I think the cpu- and bw-usage for this one is negligible.

You're not supposed to add files you try to download to your list, because there's no guarantee you'll ever get them - there may be, for example, no sources. In turn, your mylist will contain files you simply don't have.

While I'm in favor of a (IIRC previously denied) "downloaded" state, the problem is that people will probably be too lazy to properly set the state once it's downloaded, producing useless file/mylist-stats... so there would be more functions neccessary (like, for example, a reminder) to encourage proper use of such a state.

AniDB mass add works, thus I assume TheRealWorld.de mass add sucks donkey balls. ;)

I don't care. M$ IE is not officially supported by AniDB.
If you have problems which do not occur in Mozilla/FireFox/Opera you're on your own.

And as way already stated you're not supposed to add files to your mylist which you don't have yet.
-> there is no need for a combined "add to ed2k&mylist" button or an "add to mylist button" on the "add to ed2k" page.
-> DENIED

BYe!
EXP

PS: a side note, should we ever reach a point where anidb can't handle the user load anymore my first step would be to deny access to all M$ IE users. which should help for quite a while }:o)
so when I am saying M$ IE is unsupported, I mean it.

You're mean exp.. good thing I switched to FireFox some time ago...

ONTOPIC:
Another argument against adding files to your mylist before actually having them is that there might be some little corruption after eMule finished the file, if your RAM/CPU/HDD/LAN/... is faulty. Thus it's a good idea to calculate the ed2k-hashes from the files right before and/or after burning them to CD/DVD and then add those via ed2kdump-feature. This way you can be sure to have the correct files without any error in your Mylist AND on your media.

yeah, that's what I did before using AoM - problem is that AoM currently does not show if a file has a non-validated CRC and since I want all my files to be as good as possible the only way to find out whether a file is really "green" is via ed2k dump.

don't be browsist.

just because you don't like MS, don't punish those who use it.
it's not your choice, it's their choice.
when you do a service to a comunity, you must think out of you "personal reasons", and think about the users.

peace!

btw, i use Firefox myself, so i'm not concerned in the issue :]

Some people can't do that Cobrah. We at eMule Plus take in account that and support major browsers with the Web Server feature. The same with the template I made for AniDB export feature, but such nice people is scarce. They are idealist that think they can change the world and people likings. Let them be...
