Disregard deleted states when anime has mixed state [done]

Post by azntimm »

When looking at one's mylist, if there's any anime series that you have files down for mixed state, it doesn't show any icon. This is useful if you added a file and accidentally listed it as shared when it wasn't, or etc., but for deletions it seems to just get in the way. Example: I have a bunch of series where I tried out various groups' releases before deciding on a group of files to keep. I'd still like to have the files I deleted marked as deleted so I know that I tried them and didn't want to keep them, but I also would like to be able to look at my mylist and see quickly that a series is shared, on my hdd, on CD or etc.

It took me two or three tries until I found a group who released Full Metal Panic! before I picked one I wanted to burn and keep, the rest that fell behind are now marked deleted, and I have to stop and think what I did with the files instead of just looking for the 'on CD' icon right next to the anime title. Same with GTO: I originally had some DTV-source episodes, which I'm deleting as I download the DVD rips.

I think it'd be nice if I have files from anime that are both deleted and shared, or deleted and on CD or etc., if only the shared or CD icon were shown, and the deleted episodes disregarded when picking an icon. Of course if I have a mix of files deleted, shared, on CD, or etc. it could still show no state icon. Also if someone has deleted every single file they own from an anime it would still show deleted, but other than that...

I'm pretty sure this request is not related to this request, I think. Also checked to make sure this wasn't a repeat but who knows...

How about leaving it the way it is to show that there's still demand for this feature ^^

1) Me too.

2) Depends on how exp has this coded.

3) Flag each state as it appears in an anime: Less than 8 states, so only need a byte storage. Display every state icon as it is found.

4) Don't flag deleted animes, instead modify current flag to a mixed state. I con something like this maybe: Image

5) By the way should this icon: Image show up for mixed state? For me it doesn't.

6) I'm feeling a bit numbered list this evening.

I like the way it is now. Plain and simple.

I don't.

Entries without an icon bug me. It might be easily solved by an additional option to set the state manually untill something (like AoM) adds/changes entries in that Anime entry, so that the automatically calculated icon (or no icon) is set as value again.

That way once you have a series finished you can set the icon to "on cd" and still have other entries like "deleted" and be able to see that you have the series completed, on cd, and which files you downloaded before.

Because of this I always use "remove" instead of "deleted" - and since I think "deleted" has some kind of purpose (like whatever ^_^ - I did not code this part and I don't really know what's it for) there should be a way to have the icon you want in the Anime entry even with other states of files for that Anime. Especially when you are re-downloading a series it gets really confusing because you have the DTV version on CD but the newly released DVD rip on HDD the mixed stated tells you that you don't really have that series complete although you have.

This is one reason why browsing the Mylist is a bit useless untill you open up the file entries - meaining that you have to click at least another two times to find out what the current state of that Anime is.

I guess the most simple solution (to adress the problem of mixed states) is to show all icons at once - there are not that many anyway, so it shouldn't break the layout.

This would also help spotting single wrongly classified files (or a single file left on hdd after a different group's version is now on cd).

neat. Good idea (untill something more sophisticated can be implemented of course :) )

Well, if more than 2 (or 3) are available we can keep the current way.
