I wonder if it really is neccessary to distinguish all these codecs in their sub-categories, don't get me wrong, I'd still be neccessary to have proper Div3, Div4, Div5, Xvid, ... namings, but what about the "VBR"-part?
The current list is:
unknown
DivX UNK - Dunno when that happens, but should "UNK" not be expanded to "Unknown" (in case I got it right ^^;; )
DivX3 Needed, that's still the standard after all
DivX3 VBR Now, I guess most good encodes are VBR anyway, but does it really matter? If it is CBR, but visually worse quality, wouldn't the quality-rating be enough to indicate that?
DivX4
DivX4 VBR (... same here)
DivX5
DivX5 VBR (... same here)
XviD
MPG1 (vcd)
MPG2 (svcd) Needed, but it should be "MPG2 (svcd/dvd)"
MPG4
ASF
MOV
RM (also ram) (*puke*, but needed, huh?)
Vivo Vivo-Anime? How many such entries are there so far, if I may ask?
DVD -> Mpeg2
Btw, another issue with the VBR/CBR simply is that GSpot doesn't distinguish the two, may that even be the real reason for me posting this. ^^

I have a La Blue Girl episode in Vivo somewhere on my harddisk ^^wahaha wrote: Vivo Vivo-Anime? How many such entries are there so far, if I may ask?
well,
the main idea behind all this was to use the anidb client to fill out those informations.
which ones would be available (to the clients @ file inspection) and which wouldn't hasn't been discussed so far.
and btw. does it hurt to have some more options than absolutly nessecary in that dropdown?
