Based on the anime-type, change "Air/Release Date:" in the "add ep"-page to:
"Episode first aired on:" for TV
"DVD/VHS/LD released on:" for OVA
"Premiered on:" for Movies
"Air/Release date:" for unknown and other
And add "Note: Leave blank if you don't know when [*]" below the box, where [*] is:
"this episode first aired." for TV
"the DVD/VHS/LD was released." for OVA
"it premiered" for Movie
And: "Note: Do not add any release-dates of files here." for unknown and other

Reason:
Especially when there are already other eps with air-dates added, it seems to be a common misconception for many users to add the release-date instead - or even manually type the current date.

If this happens, I`d like to see an entry for 'Release date' as well, below the 'Air Date'. Not everyone cares about when it aired, but do when it was released by the fansubgroup.

And there is this field already when you add the files. It is even in the mass add form!
Another good way to know when episode was aired or licensed is to go to ANN database.
I hope there will be link to ANN for each series soon so we will have all that info as well.
