[REQ] [DB] store (links to) related files [DENIED]

Post by wahaha »

(idea stolen from #anidb :P)
... as the topic sais, please think of a way to add "related files" - just as a making-of (which can hardly be considered "anime") or the OSTs or maybe the manga the anime based on.
...Wallpapers even? No end to this :)

Anyway, they'd need:
> Short description (What is it?)
> Long description (What is it exactly (if needed))
> link(s) / maybe obtaining advice (e.g.: Go page x and click y)

Maybe this one "generic" way of describing it and special methods for default types (such as videos, archives, images, text files(?), ...)
I guess only the first is really important, but might become in handy to have less free-form-entries I guess ;)

p.s.: The topic sais "store", but I didn't intend to suggest to actually leave (small) files on this server ;)

ATM I am not sure if this is a feature we need.
Doing it ryt would need some serious time @ proggin.
And all in all OSTs, Mangas and everything that is not a movie file simply doesn't belong into anidb.
There should be seperate pages for that.

However, I'll think about implementing some better way to add specials, making ofs, ...
ATM it's kinda ugly bc one has to add them as extra eps.

I was about to suggest something similar.

I was also thinking about subtitles when they come into separate files.

- better way of adding external subs

DENIED:
- way of adding OSTs
- way of adding Mangas
- way of adding anything not avi or sub title

Ahm... so there is a possibility of having ManDB (for Mangas) and OstDB (for OSTs) in the future?

Well we'd certainly like to do it. But ATM we don't have the time.
Once the anidb has reached a state where it does no longer require as much active development as it does now we might start such projects.
And unfortunatly, reaching that point will probably take quite some time.

well,

ATM the anidb is written in perl and the AniDB client is written in Delphi. However we'd like to see alternative AniDB clients as well and those could be written in any language (i.e. java, c++, ...).
The irc bot could need some reworking too, maybe a complete rewrite in java or c++. Everyone, feel free to volunteer :P
