"Haven't voted for this anime" symbol [FIXED]

Post by requiem »

When I vote for an anime that can only have a temporary vote, the "!" symbol for "You have not voted for this anime" doesn't go away. I can't tell which ones I've voted for or not now. This is particularly tedious when rating hentai.

Perhaps change the symbol to saying "No permanent vote" after doing a tmp vote?

Or is this a bug?

It appears to me there are four different conditions:
1) There is no vote
2) There is a temporary vote and a permanent is possible
3) There is a temporary vote and a permanent is NOT possible
4) There is a permanent vote

Currently the symbol is shown in cases 1-3.

I think that either 1 & 2 should show the symbol, or there should be symbols to differentiate the possibilities.

1. No vote: !
2. Temp. vote, and a permanent vote is not possible: !
3. Temp. vote, and a permanent vote is possible: !
4. Permanent vote:

The symbol for case 3 might be identical to the symbol for case 1, since the message to the user is the same: you can and should cast a vote here. Alternatively, the old ! might be displayed in cases 1 and 3 and no symbol for cases 2 and 4, but personally I'm in favour of the multi-colored version. :)

I would say that #3 should be orange and 2 shouldn't have a marking(unless it just needs and end date, there is nothing you can do but wait) or at least it should be green. Orange and red mean that actions is required...

1. No vote: !
2. Temp. vote, and a permanent vote is not possible: ! or:
3. Temp. vote, and a permanent vote is possible: !
4. Permanent vote:

Why not fix the problem of the symbol being shown when no votes possible?! I don't like any of the proposals and don't think it will be quite useful or easy to understand to people.

What case is this? AFAIK, these symbols are only shown when the whole anime has been marked as watched. If the whole anime has been marked as watched (which means there are episodes and files), then at least a temporary vote should be available, correct?

In some cases a permanent vote is not available, but that is what this is supposed to address, when a temporary vote has been given and a permanent is not available. In this case, then leaving the mark off of case #2 above would be a solution, correct? Changing the color for case #3 is just an enhancement to differenciate #1 & #3, in either case, the user should go vote.

As I see:

- you haven't voted: mark shown
- you voted temporary (permanent NOT available): mark NOT shown
- you voted temporary (permanent available): mark shown
- you voted permanent: mark NOT shown
- you can't vote any: mark NOT shown

That's fine with me... I don't know what would cause the last case, but that really isn't any different from what I said. The colors were just to distinguish the different cases where the mark was shown.

Didn't understand your statement then. :P
Well, I don't see why we would need a difference as a temporary vote is not important IMO if you can vote permanently (= NO VOTE).
