Maybe some of their servers are not up to par?
You could try to manually connect to a specific server, if you're having troubles using irc.synirc.net.
So far I didn't get any problems (though I wasn't online for very long).

well, seeing synirc servers are the mostly the same has zirc pre-split, what you were experiencing on zirc before the split is the same as synirc :P

anidb`s curse struck down another network. RIP zirc
new place to idle: irc://irc.synirc.net/anidb

You may have heard false rumors that ZiRC is dying, this is not true. ZiRC is up and functioning fine. :)
We plan to have this site re-done very soon, in the meantime for a means of connecting to ZiRC via your web browser, please use ircatwork and manually connect to irc.zirc.org.
Thanks for flying ZiRC!
I've been connecting to their servers with no issue for quite awhile. I even have a chan I was testing on there.

As for splits; From what I can tell, they're unavoidable on public servers.

Wow, after reading I suppose ZiRC really isn't usable anymore.
