No to own server. We don't need extra work, well Der Idiot (or should I say Der) doesn't need it. :P
ZiRC is working fine besides the couple of disconnections you get each day that weren't there before.

Who needs more?
We have 1 for ARC Forum, 1 for AniDB, 1 for AniDB Forum and so on. IRC isn't more critical IMO.

1 for anidb? *lols at dongato* we got a few more than just 1 :P

anyway an irc network with just 1 server you can't control is just unstable and doomed to fail on you. we've had various people report login problems (as have i when i test chii) or ban problems.

Yes, but for different tasks, or you tell me you have two web servers and two DBs in High Availability?
I had more issues with Chatsociety with all their servers than with ZiRC with just one so that's not a valid excuse. If they are sloppy with their setup/service that's another thing.

Considering there were days that I couldn't connect to ChatSociety I don't see the problem with a few disconnects.

Those disconnects occur daily.. more or less, I can't differentiate between that and my own ISP problems lately.

Over the last week I've been disconnected once or twice daily where my client has not been able to reconnect within 10 minutes. I'd say that considering what we moved from other networks for it's about time to ditch zirc, it doesn't look all that great.

fahrenheit seems to be having problems too.

so lets assume we'd want to change irc networks, where would we go?

I still think that our own network would be an option. And I am still against rizon :P But another small irc network might be our best bet.

Wait, in all the multitudinous IRCs, can we not find a server group mature enough *not* to pick up their ball and walk off in a huff when they don't like the way the game is going?
