Dead group/company/anime URLs

What to do with dead URLs? I've removed some in the past, but recently while looking for some data on anime that existed only on official, but now dead page, I've recalled than I can check dead sites with tools like Google cache or Wayback Machine.

So, what to do with such URLs? Remove them? Mark them in some way? Replace with link to Wayback machine? Leave as is?

Also what to do with entries without URLs? Is it ok to add previously active, but now dead official URL?

Maybe some flag should be added to all URL (and, maybe IRC data, e-mail, etc) fields to show that it is "official/verified, but now dead"?

Some people use TV station URLs and those die as soon as the series stops airing. I try to find the homepage but it's not always available. In those cases I don't know what we can do. :/

Personaly I'd be in favour of wiping, but with more of the page history available to users. Maybe.

How about keeping URLs, unless domain expired and reassigned to someone else? This will apply mostly to groups URLs - anime either hosted on producer / TV station site or authors don't allow their domains to expire.

I think URLs should be kept until they are replaced by another URL or, if not, stay. Kind of like a tombstone.

A good idea could be to remove the link and only give the text of the URL (remove the <a href= ) if the link becomes "dead" because often enough URLs later are grabbed by other people and non-anime stuff is placed on the URLs website (like pr0n, dialers or the URL is offered for sale).
