AOM 0.5.6.241 failed during downloading

I am using the AOM 0.5.6 during the first dump file download (15.40 MB)
it stoped working during the parsing of the file (due to lack of virtual memory). Only the anidb files info and anime titles and episodes info are parsed and mylist and other info are not parsed by the anidb client.

I have the dump file can it be used for the rest of the update or I have to again download the whole dump file from anidb.

I am using win xp professional (2002), 1.9 ghz processor(32 bit) and 256 Mb RAM, is it possible to use this AOM client with this configuration or should I go for other Anidb client that works well with log configarations.

Plz, help me. :(

I'm also stuck on 256 MB ram, and I strongly advise against using AOM. I would suggest WebAOM instead.

AOM does however work for me, but everything becomes sluggish =/

If you have a problem, the safest thing is to delete all the files except the local* from the kowai directory. You can try to run AOM again, and if it works, then you may be OK, but it is safer to remove the files and have it redownload.

On some things WebAOM does work better than AOM, but it does not have all of the features. I use WebAOM now for renaming and sorting (it will also automatically move files to particular directories). But, with AOM I can work with mylist and it will do autocreqs as well.

I'm sorry but PetriW has released a bad version here, and I know he takes a lot of crap because he's not a professional programmer, and AOM is good and all but this is ridiculious, this version doesn't even work.

If webAOM is better for hashing files, then push webAOM and go back to the last major release of AOM, and then let PetriW work til he's done fixing the system. It might take monthes but let's let him have the time to do it, rather then keep giving new versions that don't work so people come down harder on him.

Here's the end of my dblog from kowai
[4/12/2006 2:05:08 PM] Downloading file: 16.95 MB out of 16.95 MB done. (5 files queued, 1.25 MB)

And then I reran the program and here's the ending lines of the log inside the program
[4/12/2006 2:08:34 PM] - Trying to connect to AniDB...
[4/12/2006 2:08:38 PM] - Connected to AniDB.

[4/12/2006 2:08:39 PM] - Connection to AniDB successfully terminated. All queued tasks completed.
Same result.

Then it does NOTHING it freezes up. and after about an hour I can't hash any more files.

This really is a major problem, because that means I can't get anything from AniDB.

(and I deleted everything from Kowai Same problem). I have over a gig of ram. over a gig and a half for virtual memory. I run Oblivion fine. And this is all after a full reboot.

Something is really wrong with this client.

Great, even worse, webAOM closes on me (I use Firefox if it matters)

Now I want to add a ton of anime These should work for me but they arn't. Is there a flaw in WebAOM that closes the browser window?

I tried that under IE.

The site apparently hates me, I was banned for "leeching".

I just decided to give it up for tonight and rehash tommorow when I'm out for lunch.

I'm sorry but aom works fine for most people. Most likely your problems are caused by something blindingly obvious, like IE being configured wrong. If the dump files are not processed correctly then nothing will work.
This is something with your internet explorer, 99% certain of that.

Heck, that WebAOM doesn't work either might be a sign your system isn't configured well.

And I AM a professional coder, aom.5 just happens to be written for an anidb of about 1/10th the current size. No update for aom.5 has been detrimental so far, they've been released because of api changes making the client not work, not to try "improve" it in any significant way (the .5 branch has been discontinued).

AoM and WebAOM fill different purposes. Plus you can't "get" anything with any client anyway.
