Please change the servername in the anidb settings to api.anidb.info then restart the client.

Does not seem to work for me

I updated the host file, and I can access AniDB from anidb.ath.cx/... again, but AOM still says timeout...

It doesn't work for me either, and I know the host file is working because I can access the web site through anidb.ath.cx

				Try rebooting.
Someone else has something called lmhost screwing stuff up, no idea what that is.

I had already rebooted before my post. The LMHOSTS has to do with setting addresses NETBIOS names, this would only be for things that you wanted to try to access via M$ shares and stuff. I do not have an LMHOSTS file, so that cannot be causing a conflict.
BTW, 0.6 doesn't connect either, also it does not wait 2 minutes between retries:
[2/3/2005 5:19:44 PM] - Trying to connect to anidb...
[2/3/2005 5:20:05 PM] ! Connection failed, scheduling a retry within 2 minutes...
[2/3/2005 5:20:05 PM] - Trying to connect to anidb...
[2/3/2005 5:20:26 PM] ! Connection failed, scheduling a retry within 2 minutes...

Well, Aom 0.5 uses the value given in the server name field. So if you set it to anidb2 or to the ip it should work (after a restart).
It does for me any many others at least.

Thanks, changing it to anidb2 worked. I have no idea why the other one didn't, but at least it is working now.

Even as I setup the old names in the hosts files, the ping works but any connection from any Windows application doesn't work. Quite strange as the same works in a similar (but not the same) installation. I lost some hours trying to find what is happening without any luck.

AoM kind of works for me now when I use "
www.anidb.info" as server name.
Problem is - AoM cannot log in to AniDB. The error message I get is:
"Illegal input, only use ASCII characters" which irritates me since I only use ascii chars.
And additionally it starts downloading the database files every time I re-start the application... I guess the reason for the problems can't be my hosts file because I don't have anything set there for
www.anidb.info...

www.anidb.info" as new server adress in the options of AoM.
You need to re-start the application afterwards, it should work then...

Yeah, thats what I did.

It's an api bug, I'll tell Exp about it.

I wonder if this also has to do with the domain name change, I got this every minute or so in the log since the change:
Code: Select all
[13/02/2005 14:50:52] - Connected to AniDB.
[13/02/2005 14:50:52] - Executing new AniDB command.
[13/02/2005 14:52:52] - Connection to AniDB timed out... Will reconnect if needed.
*EDIT: never mind... was a setting. After disabling Auto Update Known File Data, everything is fine
