Simple one, I think: For each anime and episode, let the user enter a custom name and store that name in a private database outside of AniDB. If such a name is present for an anime or episode, the custom name overrides any and all names AniDB has listed for that entry for file management operations. The MyList display should not be altered to maintain consistency with the web interface's consistency.
Custom anime titles is already implemented, I'll have to think about providing custom episode titles... You can at least specify which language to use for episode titles.
And once a title is overridden it's used everywhere, it's the primary title in all places (including mylist) to save cpu/ram. The original title still appears in the custom title selection list (see screenshot in client discussion forum) and in the title list for each anime.
