AniDB

It'd be nice to have a little notice when a new AOM version is released.

If AOM is the 'official' AniDB client, you could have something in the data dump which indicates the current AOM version, and have the client check against that at each refresh.

And while I'm at it, it'd be nice to have Help > About, with a link to where to download the client from! And maybe a little info about the author, I always check the 'about' boxes on software I like.

Well, in my experience so far, the old client is disabled when a new one is released, so instant notification!!!

Actually there's a notice in your log about a new version.
Granted, that notice isn't all that visible but it's there.

But yeah, as egg said, most often we just straight up disable the old version.

Heh, I was worried that there was something there that I hadn't noticed..

a popup checkbox notice would be better.

And so would a help>about which includes the CURRENT version. (its kind of hard to figure out what version I am currently using...)
