"Avatar: The Last Airbender" not on anidb?

Post by lommm »

I realize it's not technically anime, but the show is routinely shared on various bt trackers that specialize in anime/manga. Avatar is clearly influenced by anime and is more or less an American anime series. I didn't know anything about it when I first saw it on some trackers and it would have been a lot easier if it showed up on anidb when I searched for it. I'm sure others have had the same problem.

Is it some kind of anidb policy to not also put American anime-style series in the DB?

Thanks and keep up the great work!

okay! fair enough for me! i just had never watched it and don't see nickelodeon, so i downloaded it thinking it was a new anime series.

then i saw it and it sucked. mostly because of the dubbing, but the style was pretty bad. i just thought an anidb average of 6 or something would have warned me. oh well. next time, i'll use google!

Avatar has every single element a GOOD anime has.
Drama
Romance
Martial arts
Characters similair to Animes
Storyline

So you will not post Avatar on the Ani DB only because it wasn't originally created in Japan? I call that discrimination towards nicely made Animes like Avatar.

Oh, who said that Avatar sucks cant know how to see Animes.
I watch alot of Animes, and I know how to rate Animes. I would give Avatar a 7.5/8.
I prefer Avatar above naruto, I say that Avatar SHOULD be on the Anime Database, even if it was only about its quality.

It's a cartoon, not an anime.

to be specific....anime (shortage of animeshôn) is just the japanese word for cartoon...and outside of Japan/Asia all what is called animes is a Synonym to japanese cartoon. But in Japan when you are asking for anime they give you the american cartoons as well.

[17:34:45] <worf> we should just implement lots and lots of new features and then rename "AniDB" aka "Anime Database" to "AniDB" aka "Animation Database"
[17:35:06] <worf> that way we could cover every tiny shitbit of american/french/whatever cartoons and CG animations
[17:35:18] * worf is looking forward to seeing Shrek on AniDB
[17:35:26] * DerIdiot adds werner
[17:35:56] <worf> woah ... old "Star Trek: The Animated Series" on AniDB! AWESOME!
[17:36:30] <SPF> oh yea, I have those series
[17:39:23] <worf> hmmmm, just thinking about it ... having ed2k links for animated hollywood movies on anidb sure would be handy :p
[17:39:41] <DerIdiot> for the mpaa to sue us all?
[17:40:47] <worf> yeah, that too

Well, it could be possible just to copy the anidb system, but not the content to an other site, for example (what I more prefer) Live Action^^
