Relation "Character" isn't suiting enought, them coresponding even in the story - these two stories meets in some parts on both sides. It's more like "side story".

Not "side storry", -- it is impossible to tell with is the side storry and with is the parent storry --- I think "other" is the vest chose here.

Just add a new relation type: CLAMP.
