[MOVE][FILE] Pikachu's Summer Festival (fid 160602)

This file was just released today and I was about to add it when I found it had already been put in the wrong place. The file is listed as the Pikachu short with the seventh movie aome places, BUT it was originally shown on ANA flights seperately. So I created its own anime entry to reflect the way it was released. Therefore fid 160602 should be moved to eid 38954. eid 38952 should be deleted.

A question that should probably have been asked earlier, does an earlier original airtime automatically disqualify this from being a special for the 7th movie? We have several pilot-special type things in the db at the moment, if this is basically a movie extra that happened to have an earlier airing, could it not still be a special?

This is a broad question with far reaching implications... The core of this question has come up many times before and to my AFAIK what has been taken is "How it was originally released in Japan." The sticky point has been when they show something on TV and then release it with a different order (usually with added eps) on DVD...

In this case the two were released separately (One in theaters and the other shown on ANA airlines), and I assume now they have been released on the same DVD. Although it is annoying to have a different entry that is the way things were released and I have been trying to adhere to "How it was originally released in Japan." BTW, there is no relation in the plots between the movie and this special. It is just that they have traditionally released a Pikachu side story with the movies.

The yet unrevealed Pokemon on the 7th movie site, will apparently appear on a plane of the ANA Company as a new mascot. The ANA Company says:
'We think that this new Pokemon that the 7th movie site still lists as secret(which will get an official name soon) will be so phenomenal that we will use it as the new Pokemon mascot, just like Pikachu is on our planes.'
On May 24th, the ANA company will reveal more about the plane.

So it was just a promotion...I don't see how that should be treated differently from e.g. the Jump Festival.

And there is a small relation, Plusle and Minun. ;)

Anyway, I don't mind too much if I am overruled, but as I said, I was just trying to do what I thought was right based on what I have seen done in the past. Trying to get things in the correct places with Pokemon has been a real pain, especially with the way they did Shuukan Pokemon Housoukyoku and Chronicles. Everything is in different orders and many of the things shown in Chronicles were previous TV Specials/OVAs that aren't considered part of Housoukyoku even though some of them were shown there...

I don't know if the passage of time makes any difference, but the movie was released on 17.07.2004. This Pikachu short was shown 01.08.2004 - 31.08.2004 on ANA. They were just released together in July 2005. That means that for 11 months they were unrelated (which is why when I saw the file I created a separate record, because the information I had to that point didn't link them). When it failed to add and I saw it was added as a special to movie 7 that is when I did more research again and found a reference saying it was the short for that movie.

I take half of what I said back. How is this related to the movie? AFAIK it was not shown in the theatres with the movie (otherwise it would not have just been shown on ANA flights like places say). It was not released on the DVD with the movie, I just checked Amazon. So, how is it related??? The other shorts were shown with the movies in the theatres (at least in the US) and were on the DVDs, so it makes sense that they are related, but this does not appear to be the same...

After doing some more research, it is released separately on its own DVD and was never released with the movie (in theatres or on the DVD). Because of that I believe it deserves its own record.

Some sites list this as the Pikachu short for the 7th movie, but I believe that is because of tradition...

OK, I looked again and cannot find any real evidence linking the short to the movie. I asked asked about it on #pocketmonsters (the only group that I know of that released it) and this is what I got from one of the ops.
