[AOM 0.5.1.219] Deleting all but local oddness [DUPLICATE]

Post by Rar »

Basically, AOM was starting to go really slow on start, and ignore me when I added files or marked things watched and not connect to AniDB to update them, so I deleted all th kowai files but the five local_ ones.

Now however, it seems AOM is refusing to log onto AniDB at all, no mylist stats displayed, all local files purple and such like. This is despite a normal looking start up:

Check what the status bar says and verify that you can download files using Internet Explorer.

Heh. Odd, seems to have been a problem my end - but I'll explain in case it helps anyone else.

Status bar either said 'Connection to AniDB successfully terminated. All queued tasks completed.' or '8.33k of file downloaded, 0 files in queue'.

Netscape 7 (which I usually use) was working fine, so I thought I'd be stupid and take you literally and try IE - which was for some reason 'Working Offline'. Telling IE to connect meant AOM started working.

yeah AoM is developed using what again? I think it was MS C++ or something like that? You should expect that to interact with the system settings like the "offline" status.

It's always fun when you get a call from your friend telling you he can't access the Internet, Kazaa works and stuff but his Email won't work cause he uses Outlook Express.

Really great.

Delphi, I'm gonna fix it using MS IE one day when I don't feel so lazy.~
