Trouble updating from AniDB

Recently, the client has trouble downloading the latest data from AniDB

[2004-02-06 23:32:09] - Trying to connect to AniDB...
[2004-02-06 23:32:10] - Connected to AniDB.
[2004-02-06 23:32:10] - Executing new AniDB command.
[2004-02-06 23:32:10] - Disconnected from AniDB.
[2004-02-06 23:32:11] - Updating anime data.
[2004-02-06 23:32:11] - Updating anime data.
[2004-02-06 23:32:11] - Trying to connect to AniDB...
[2004-02-06 23:32:11] - All files downloaded.
[2004-02-06 23:32:11] - Connected to AniDB.
[2004-02-06 23:32:11] - Executing new AniDB command.
[2004-02-06 23:32:12] - Updating anime data.
[2004-02-06 23:34:12] - Disconnected from AniDB.

It says all files downloaded but I don't see the latest files...

Also, recently there is more and more animes without info... There were 5 this morning and now there are 7. I don't know if it is related...

The only difference is that there are 3 Updating anime data.
Maybe it takes off the info while updating ?!?

I don't see any episode listed, name, synonyms, prequels, sequels, genre, rating, review... All the other info is there.

It means it fails when updating the anime data, I still have to look into it but it has happened before due to weird entries and bugs.

If after renaming or removing kowai.dat you still have the same problem I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the next AOM version.

It is working with a new DB file...
You should consider separating the DB and the settings in case it happens again since I lost them!

I don't have any no info animes but the client still have trouble updating fro AniDB! It still stalls while "updating anime data"...

I can't reproduce with my private build, either that's a good thing or there's something special.

Hopefully I'll nail what causes these errors when I rewrite the saving functions for the new storage format.

Same her. It stalled while "Updating anime data". AOM seems to write the log line, do nothing and try again after anidb disconnects it after a timeout?
I did some testing and got the client (and me) even more confused:

- Removing kowai.dat solved this particular problem but did not help much. Now it failed while "Updating mylist data"
- Replacing kowai.dat with an older, so far working copy also led to a stop while "Updating mylist data".

My copy has also started to repeatedly contact anidb every 2 minutes and not doing anything useful. I don't know why, it worked well enough week ago or so.

Apparently anidb has 2-minute idletimeout or something and the aom parser or something doesn't understand what anidb says.. I guess. Too lazy to check what goes on the wire.

maybe it is related to the # of known files ?!?

Just a thought since it did it again once I added my 120 GB of files to the known files. If I take the old db file, everything is fine!
