Ok apparently http://www.anidb.net/wiki/index.php?title=UDP_API_DEV is for the future version or is it ready for trying it out? It might be better to clearify that on the top of the page. That stuff looks really interesting and probably quite useful.
Just a heads up, I got a decent UDP Test system written finally. so I'll be moving to try to write the notification system at some point.
