Well,

we are in need of someone who would be willing to create some decent looking icons and buttons for AniDB.

Note: all the following icons/buttons are ment to be displayed in the current table layout. That means they must not be to big for the current table hights.

Here's what we need:
on anme page:
- icons for the audio and sub languages (a bitch, bc there's dual audio also)
- little stars for the quality rating
- a recap icon
- buttons as replacements for the add file and add to own links
- crc checked icon
- crc failed icon
- v2,v3,v4,v5 icon
- in mylist icon
- watched icon
...

on mylist page:
- buttons as replacements for the mark seen, mark unseen links
- buttons as replacements for the edit and del links
- icons for the different mylist states (on cd, on hdd, ...)
- quality, v* and language icons are the same as on the anime page
...

About the recap icon. I don't know... it's hard to think for an icon that gets the concept of it.

Feel free to say you don't like them... :P

well, doesn't look bad :o)

but there are some things /me needs to rant about, naturaly }:o)

with audio/subs icons i meant something like little flags which can be used to replace the jap/eng, jap.eng/eng, jap/none, eng/none, ... txt entries. take a look at the sub and dub language dropdowns @ file add.
it's dub / sub, atm. so we'd need all language icons once and the double language icons on top of that.
one might think about doing jap/none differntly (RAW). dunno about that though.

the rating stars are to big that way. we have 8 different quality ratings. and the highest value shouldn't get too big @ width
one could also think if some of the ratings might be displayed differently, i.e. unknown with some kind of ? and eyecancer and corrupted with ...

no idea about the recap icon, it could prolly be done better, but i dunno how :P

the rest is pretty decent :D

And you want me to do all those languages options for sub/dub with an icon of 15x13 pixels max?!

Well, I don't know what could represent a 'recap'. Let me think for another thing to use for that.

About the starts... well I was thinking on the line of:

Unknown: no graphic (that's the concept)
Very High: ImageImageImage
High: ImageImage
Med: Image
Low: Image
Corrupted: what's the point on having a corrupted file indexed?
Eyecancer: Image or Image

This is a quite average way of rating files in other sites (I mean the stars).

The spaces between the starts were added by the stupid forum software/template.

well,

i included some of them on the mylist page to see how it looks, and i must say not bad at all :o)
although i noticed that we'll need a pic for the ed2k link too.

hm,

i'd rather show some kind of "?" instead of no pic at all for unknown @ quality
and corrupted might well be of interest, bc if that's the only file someone has he may well add it to the db.
corrupted in this sense means that
a) the file has a wrong crc
AND
b) there is visible corruption
so corrupted does offer more info than a simple crc failed

Pixel_K: The red X on the eye of "not seen" should be smaller - otherwise you can't recognize the eye ;) - Corrpted looks funny, but not very intuitive IMO.

DonGato: Since I can't add anything to the icon-part, I'll just give a reason for the corrupted-files-entries: AniDB also easily works as a fake-checker, so it's good to also keep the "bad" entries.

It seems there are two spaces between edit and delete icons at mylist. Can this be corrected?

ed2k link (I'm using eMule standard): Image
Quality unknown: Image
Quality corrupted (from eMule Plus): Image

Languages:
Chinese Audio/Subs: Image Image
English Audio/Subs: Image Image
French Audio/Subs: Image Image
German Audio/Subs: Image Image
Italian Audio/Subs: Image Image
Japanese Audio/Subs: Image Image
Russian Audio/Subs: Image Image
Spanish Audio/Subs: Image Image
Dutch Subs: Image

And about different file versions, I don't think we need a new graphic for that. It will be more bytes to show it and we gain nothing because of it.

Icons are subject to perfection... let me know and I will try it at least. Not that we can do much more with a 15x13 pixels icon. :P

i second the england one for english...or maybe take the british one?

and as accosted in irc, i think we should leave the icons for the quality behind, text is much better to recognize...
