Anime Movie with football and space

I remember as a kid, on one of the local Chicago channels, there was this weird/interesting anime movie.
It started off with a bunch of guys playing football or soccer, don't remember which one, but then these spaceships came on the field and kidnapped them.
I don't remember the details, but the main character was like the chosen one, or something, or I think he was originally from space. Again, not really sure.
I know this is such an obscure request, but indulge me.
