Saddest, Tragic Anime

I search there is no topic on this so I will post this; what is the saddest and most tragic animes you have watched? Anyway, the distinction between anime and other cartoons is that it is able to evoke deep human sentiments and strong emotions. The Japanese are good at this because of their very conservative and introverted cultures and personalities.

5.Saikano (Is Another Love Story as sad?)

4.Countdown Akira (The best under-rated; note:soft hentai)

2.Voices of the distant star (25min long movie)

1.Grave of the fireflies (if you don't know what it is, go and bang your head against the wall, you can't grasp the definition of anime if you haven't watch it)

The reason why I have not watch Gundam, Eva, Rorouni Kenshin, Naruto, etc. is because they are too popularly appealing, I wanted anime with unique and controversial taste. My choices appeal if you like mature themed and tragic terjerkers.

I also heard Barefoot Gen is sadder than GotF. I have not watch it. I thought GotF included bro-sis relations and BFG included bro-bro relations.
