Tear-jerking moments in anime

Post by Chito1717 »

What were you favorite tear-jerking moments in anime?

My personal favorite is probably chrono crusade's ending. I also liked Mai-Himes repetetive deaths, although kinda overboard (even though they came back to life).

Everyone knows the answer to this, Saikano episode 9...

Want more?
End of Cowboy Bebop (mostly thanks to Kanno..)
Climax of Hotaru no Haka
Some people say the last ep of Kino no Tabi.. I don't really agree.
Hoshi no Koe.. (everything)
Various parts of Narutaru
End of Hi no Tori, maybe?
And Hitsuji no Uta?
Several major scenes in Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku

By the way please try to keep this spoiler-free!!!!

Grave of the Fireflies.

If you don't get teary eyed at the end of that, you're just not human.

I guess I'm not human then, I hate grave of the fireflies :P

I've gotten teary eyed with a few other animes, though, but I've never dropped a tear cause of an anime.

Didn't think it was possible for someone to hate such a classic. I'm guessing you didn't like it because of the way they portrayed the war. It was a one sided story but whatever, i recommend it to anyone else.

Anyone who would hate this because of "how the war is portrayed" is just incredibly stupid, that's all I have to say. Most of the people I know who dislike Hotaru no Haka think that it's somehow invalidated by that fact that everything that happened to Seita is "his own fault", and think the war is largely irrelevant to the story... :(

Well, when I watched it I felt that it WAS his own fault which was the point of the story. There's quite a lot of people out there that could learn something from watching Hotaru no Haka.

... nice thread :)

As a selection:
- Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (Mizuki is really moving)
- you wont believe this one: One Piece, when leaving Alabasta :-) (because of the naive but still touching and deeply human soul of the story)
- Cowboy Bebop (last episode)
- KareKano (for the beautiful love story)

A special notion goes to Berserk - while not being tear jerking (thank god), it has the most gripping and intriguing storyline and cast of characters.

One that really gets me teary eyed, just thinking about it, would have to be...

AIR - Especially eps. 6, 9, 11, and 12.

...and a list of some more series that I found emotionally intense.

Hotaru no Haka - Very emotionally draining, I will probably not watch this again for a very long time.
Haibane Renmei - Final episode.
KGNE - 2nd and final episode.
Elfen Lied - Final episode.
Last Exile - Final episode.
Hoshi no Koe
Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho - The end and one other scene a little over midway through the film.
Chrno Crusade - Final episode.
Shingetsutan Tsukihime - Final episode.
Kannazuki no Miko - Final episode.
Chobits - Final episode.
Seikai no Senki II - OP of episode 1 and the final episode.
RahXephon - Some scenes throughout the series.
Shin Taketori Monogatari: Sen-nen Joou - The end and some other scenes throughout the movie.
Ginga Tetsudou 999 - Some scenes throughout the movie.

Revival of an old thread! I agree on most animes that have been posted already, here are a few additions:

How could you people forget about full moon wo sagashite?
- Shingetsutan Tsukihime, final episode
- Haibane Renmei (that ending is just depressing to me)
- Noir (the ending)
- Uta Kata (ending once again)
And btw someone who includes Love Hina can not be taken seriously.
