Sorry to bother, lost an anime

All I remember about it was mechs in space, and this kid with the number 88 on his wrist. I remember loving it, but I cant for the life of me find it again.

Please help?

Candidate for Goddess, I am pretty sure that is the one you are thinking of, It is a great anime.

"Childhood"? It was released in the US in 2002, so you probably didn't see it more than five years ago. Just curious, but how old are you?
