Hey, I tried to get an avatar, but the avatar thing in the profile said the URL link wasn't valid. Who knows, maybe I'm doing something wrong...
Can someone give me a step-by-step walkthrough?

Also, does it really have to be 8x8 and only 6 kbytes? It's practically wightless! I got myself a small picture that would make a nice avatar, but even a picture that small weighs more then 11 kbytes in a JPEG format.

You're doing something wrong if it's 11k, I use about twice that for screenshots from normal resolution video. (Especially if you're really trying for 8x8 pixels, not 80x80...)

Well, actually, it's not an 8x8, it's a 120x140. That's why I asked if it really has to be an 8x8. See, this 120x140 is quite small, it's just dense. I suspect that compared to an 120x140 an 8x8 would look really crappy, so that's why I can't quite get that restriction.

I would say you wrote it wrong.

Keep in mind: Urls are case sensitive (includes the file name)

So, would it be wrong if I write: "E:\My Archive\untitled.jpg"? Cuz, that's what I did.

That's not an URL. You need to upload your avatar first to a site like ImageShack. They'll give you an URL which you need to paste in your profile.

That's just the path to your local file. And we normally can't acccess your local files.

An URL is something like:
http://www.anidb.info/

Just like sjabbie said, you have to upload your avatar something else first.

Hint: Maybe you can upload the avatar on an other forum...than you can take the url to your picture from that forum and copy it to this forum.
To get the Url just rightclick on your uploaded avatar and go to properties.
