Help with MyList/AniDB

Post by googlemonk »

Hi :D

If it isn't obvious already, I signed up just a little while ago and I'm having trouble getting my head around the interface. I've had a look around at the forums but I haven't found anything that's cleared up the issue for me.

What I want to do is be able to track when new anime eps are released for anime that I'm currently watching or new series that I want to keep my eye on.

So far, from what I can gather, I can use AoM to mass add files to MyList that I already have but I don't see how it helps me track new eps, whether it's ones I have or ones I'm interested in.

All I really want to do is be able to select the anime that I want to keep an eye on (to a specific fansub group/s if that's possible) and have it notify me when something new is released. Is it possible to do this without having to go through the whole process of adding in what I have with AoM? Even if I do add all my anime in, how do I account for new anime that has yet to be fansubbed?

If this has been answered to death, I'd really appreciate it if you can point me to a post that answers my query rather than have to answer it yet again in this thread.

Thanks in advance :D

P.S. Just as a side note, to the people that operate AniDB, great work. I really appreciate what you've done to make the site what it is.

That's fine for anything that I have in MyList but is there some way to account for the ones I don't have yet that I'd like to be notified about?

Also, is it really necessary to have to add to MyList with what I have? I know that it is for the notification to work but I mean is that the only way of being able to track new eps?

This also works for anime that aren't in your mylist. Group is handy for anime that you already have in your mylist so you can get files from the same group. If you use all then you can follow anime that are upcoming. You don't need to add the anime to your mylist for notification to work.

Ok, I'll give AoM a go and see if it does what I want it to.

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it.
