Question on amount of anime (+size)

Greetings, I am making a website on imagination and everything that triggers it (including anime), and I'm still wondering whether to have an encyclopedic list of all animes with some details (so the users can have some features for each of them), for the thing is the space and bandwidth issue here. I saw on your statistics page "21957 GB" and "3007 animes". I can deal with that amount of animes, and try to make small pages for each of them, but 21957 GB? What does that include?

I'd really appreciate any help i can get, your website is really great (I'm just learning how to use it).

And just if anyone is wondering, I do not wish to copy AniDB in any form whatsoever.

The GB, is the total size of all of the files for all of the episodes known about AniDB. Most episodes have multiple files (sometimes many for the same subbing group for new versions and/or corrupted files). Although this is somewhat interesting, it is a meaningless statistic. Note, AniDB does not store all these files, it just has information about them.

For a more meaningful measure of anime, I would use AOM which says the total length of the anime is: 533d, 13h, 42m. As for how that is calculated, you would have to ask PetriW, but I believe it is the total of the times for every episode (now there are cases, especially with movies, that there are multiple episodes records for a single episode, but it is much better than with the files).

Thanks a lot! This has answered my question, but I'll be looking into more details with the AniDB O'Matic as you suggested. Now the thing here is that from the info I gathered, there is much more than 3007 animes, so it's going to be a huge job :)

Thanks again!

A lot depends on your definition of Anime... If you find stuff that matches the AniDB Definition please add the information if it is missing...

I will, thanks. I still need to make my own website's definition of many things, anime among others (manga, cartoon, comic, etc).
