Anime documentaries in aniDB?

Post by Devil Doll »

Recently there was a 52 min. documentary about the Ghibli studios in German/French TV (ARTE), covering almost a dozen Ghibli movies with scenes/excerpts, and a number of interviews with important Ghibli people (such as Miyazaki or Takahata).
There's a release of this documentary in ed2k which I am sharing. I wonder whether this would be a file that aniDB could be interested in. It isn't an anime in itself, yet it contains a lot of anime stuff. Would it make sense to add this file somehow - and if so, then would I have to open an new "series" to do so? (I'm even pondering to create English subtitles for this documentary, as the audio stream of the available videos is German resp. French but I have translated them to English already... all I'd need now is the work for the subtitle timing.)

There has been an anime documentary night in German TV two years ago, covering documentaries about anime/manga as well as "Making Of" releases for certain animes. I checked and found some of these in the database while others were missing; I added the files where I was able to tag them as a special related to one anime series/movie. But with the Ghibli documentary I just don't know where to start...

I guess this kind of content is not in the scope of AniDB. If the documentary would be dealing with just one special anime and would have been released from the original studio, then it might be addable as a special imho, but not some general documentary on anime.

I think if you can get a "special" link to that you video could post it on the Animereactor forums. But NOT here.

Just a hint ;-)
