i remember that some time ago there was an option to add genres to animes so others would know the styles of those animes but now i can't do it anymore for some reason,
did you disabled that option?
thank you
adding genres to animes...?
Moderator: AniDB
Yes, the option has been hidden for everyone but those who added the respective anime, to avoid the constant back-and-forth of adding and removing genres in some cases.
Changes to genres now have to be requested either here in the ("DB Change Request") forum or via the creq-description of a regular anime-creq. See "How to update or correct existing entries"

I sure hope not. Genre lists like those you often see on AnimeNFO are highly confusing and don't exactly help with guessing what the anime is all about and if you might like it.gabriel_knight wrote:oh.. that's too bad i really liked that option and i hope you'll add it again some time. ^^
But while we're at it...
exp, what about weighted genres?

what's weighted generes?
anyway, if you say they don't help you - so ignore them, but i think they're very helpful. for example, there are so many shounen ai animes (especially lately there's a huge boom of animes with shounen ai hints) and the "shounen ai" list only has about 15 titles or less and most of them i added when the option was avilable (for now it seems this genre exists but isn't used at all...).
i say make this feature available and also add a feature to remove generes by the users.
you can also warn that these can be updated by the site users so not trust them too much. (which is still better than a show which has fantasy, demons and scifi would be only genered as action and a show with school, romance and is a shoujo would only be genered as drama)

they won't. Genres are a matter which is too subjective to allow everyone to add them without prior discussion.gabriel_knight wrote:oh.. that's too bad i really liked that option and i hope you'll add it again some time. ^^
However, an easier way to request the addition/removal of genres for an anime might be implemented some day.
hrhr, who knows? we might see that someday.Elberet wrote:But while we're at it...
