I received a notification for INNOCENCE, but when I went to the anime, I didn't see any new file icons. It has been less than 24 hours since the last time I had logged in, so if there was a new file, I should have seen the icon. I went to the Notification History, and this anime does not appear in the list.

My guess is that someone put in a bogus file that was deleted. If I am right, the history probably didn't show the file because it failed to load the file data. My question is, can the pop-up window do whatever the history page is doing and filter out the anime in this case?

I suspect that'd be quite heavy though, you'd also have to include the same thing on all pages so you don't get a "1 notify!" and then click the popup there's nothing there.

I thought exp might say that, but I was waiting to see...

There are two other ways of handling it:
1) Have it show up in the history as file deleted.
2) Have the delete file do some cleanup and delete notifications for that file.

well,

as you already guessed this was most likely caused by a file which was deleted right after it was added.
that doesn't happen very often though and I don't think those few cases are important enough to make any workaround worthwhile.
it would just mean more work for the server and for me :P
