Trouble accessing site

Whenever I try to access the
http://anidb.ath.cx website from school, I either a) get a prompt to download something, or b) get a website made of pure text that makes no sense at all(just a bunch of symbols and gibberish). Is there anyway I can change this and have it so I am able to access AniDB from school/ a firewall? Please reply.

which browser are you using?
and do you know anything about that proxy? are you able to access websites without using that proxy?

I am using Internet Explorer, and I know the proxy is on all the networked PCs. I am not able to access the web without the proxy unless I switch browsers which I am not allowed to do, or change the proxy, which is grayed out to me (I have user access)
