What if there was a catastrophic database failure

Just curious, does the site have some sort of backup system? I've put a lot of time into putting all my info on the site is all, and I'm worried about a site crash or something and losing all that info =/ (I know about being able to export my database to html format etc, but I'm referring to having to put all the data back on the site should there be a catastrophic failure.)

Just looking for something to ease my nerves :P

btw, excellent site, I absolutely love it, keep up the good work.

a complete database backup is done once every 24h on the local and a remote machine.

to be absolutly sure you might still want to export your mylist in an easily parsable format, i.e. xml, from time to time.
that way you have a backup you could use to import your mylist in some other kind of website/tool should the need ever arise.

Hmm... interesting. As I understand, even if somehow mysteriously all AniDB data and backups got destroyed it is possible to quickly restore everything from somebody's AoM dump, right?

The public db excluding any user-specific info (like the usercount and votes), any info not available through the api (group-comments, messages, creqs - maybe also extended relations and some synonyms) and those anime-images nobody downloaded... ;)

Not exactly "everything", but of course still a fair start in an absolute disaster scenario.
