I am working here and most internet providers are blocking anidb website "the .ath.cx" and I want to browse here the anime list
so I can acess the forum & client *tried using client but port are blocked as well

*
Is there a way to bypass that *proxy, program , whatever*?or is there a
www.anidb.net site for back-up or something does not matter how old is the backup, just for browsing sake..
I know this is a personal problem, but i thought somebody could help..

As a temporary woraround - and if only *.ath.cx is blocked from resolving - just use the IP-adress instead:
http://64.202.105.188/perl-bin/animedb.pl
(Some links and the anime-images won't load, though)
As a permanent workaround, you could try adding the line
to your HOSTS file.
(XP/2000: %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS -- 9X/Me: %windir%\HOSTS -- *n?x: /etc/hosts)

So, unless I'm overlooking anything, it seems like specifically the server AniDB is located on is blocked from your place...
Well, in that case you could try to use a proxy yourself to bypass this. For example by setting up a proxy on your home network - or by using one of the public (partially self-proclaimed "anonymous") proxies, for example
http://anonymouse.ws* or
http://anon.inf.tu-dresden.de/index_en.html* or one from the
various lists** available.
*) These two should work even through an existing proxy
**) Note that you better don't trust especially those proxies on public lists, so make sure to disable them once you finished surfing AniDB.

AniDB was added to some blacklists because of the hentai content long ago, so if your company/provider uses a Filtering Proxy most probably has AniDB in its list. Try the solution pointed by wahaha but if they are good they should have disabled those pages as well.

You are right Dongato, the reason for blocking them is (adult content).. Also they are good since they disabled all the webpages being appointed by wahaha...
I guess the only solution is do nothing about it for two months till I am back to manchester ^^;
cheers guys, sorry for the trouble
